At the moment the computer dominates as the tangible
technology supporting group working. But there is more to
it than having a powerful enough laptop. Standard software
comes with preconceived notions of how people work
together. Software designed to help you get through your
email as quickly as possible is not necessarily going to
help you reflect on a common understanding of your data
[Heeren 1996]. In its rush to be more efficient it may not
even help you effectively discuss the data.
